By Wendell W. Brock
I was raised in a home in which my family often gathered together to have what we called “family home evening,” where we discussed the principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, namely faith, repentance, forgiveness, and baptism. We were taught to pray; my parents taught us to rely on prayer in all cases and in every situation.
Many years have passed, and many prayers have been voiced from my heart. I know my Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers and grants blessings according to those petitions. Prayer is the key to understanding the will of God in my life. My faith leads me to pray.
Over the years as I have studied the Bible and The Book of Mormon, I have come to know that these books of scripture are true. These two books contain the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. By living the gospel and through continued study I have gained this knowledge through the power of the Spirit of God.
The Savior said that “by their fruits ye shall know them”; the fruits of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are real. The teachings of Christ, His doctrine, have enriched my life. The doctrines of His Church help me to be a better Christian. The organization of the Church is that of what Christ established, with prophets, apostles, etc. We have no professional clergy, so we are equally blessed by opportunities to serve each other as we take on the responsibility to care for others in our local congregations. This gives each member a church family and support wherever they may be.
I share this that my children may know more about their father, and that you the reader may know more about me. I invite you to enjoy the same blessings that our loving Heavenly Father has for you and your family by learning more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for taking time to read this post; for questions you may email me at: [email protected].
